Grace Gallery Featured Artist - Barbara Fontaine - White

Born in Troy, New York in the Hudson River Valley, Barbara Fontaine-White views the landscape as a physical experience that forges a relationship with herself, the viewer, and the painting she creates. 

In 2019, she received a faculty development grat to develop a new body of work using the landscape as a subject. Her current work represents her observations. 

Fontaine-White taught painting and drawing at the University level for over 30 years. She retired in the spring of 222 as a full professor from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and now works as a full time artist. Her paintings start with observed retality and are synthesized through composition, memory, and imagination. Her work stresses materiality incorporating cold wax medium, paint sticks, pastels, and charcoal.
